Re. Sir John A. Macdonald

A very HAPPY and BELATED Birthday to Sir John A. Macdonald!

Yesterday, Sir John turned 196 years young. The man's had a very accomplished life.

- First Prime Minister of Canada
- Father of Confederation
- Built a railway across the nation
- Social Drinker
- Blue Jays Infielder

You know, I was thinking - Canadians should get the day off in honour of Sir John's birthday.

Who's with me?

30-3?!

Yesterday, the Texas Rangers defeated the Baltimore Orioles 30-3. It was the first time since 1897 that a Major League Baseball team scored 30 runs in a nine inning game.

Here's some irony:

- The 30-3 outcome was game one of a double header. Texas won the second game 9-7.

- The Rangers are having an abysmal season. They're at the bottom of the AL West, with a record of 56-70.

- Before the first game, Baltimore announced they were extending manager Dave Trembly's contract through the 2008 season.

One thing's for sure...

THE ORIOLES GOT JACKED UP!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday, Mr. Wood!

Today, andpop.com writer and good friend, Mr. Wood (Mirrostone's Reflections), is celebrating his 24th birthday.

Therefore, I would like to wish Mr. Wood a very Happy Birthday.

I'm looking forward to his birthday party; especially after last year's party, which was off the charts.

When Mr. Wood hosts a party, he goes all out. Last year, there were Vegas Show Girls, five fountains, caviar, a number of exotic animals, and a hot tub. He also managed to get Jay-Z to perform. The birthday cake was filled with chocolate and vodka. Everyone slept over! I woke up the following day next to a Brazilian model, while being watched by a lemur. Man, that was a great party.

Oh wait.....................that might have been just a dream.

Celebrating 24 Years

As I have said in the past, my birthday is a weird day for me. I enjoy all the attention but, I also feel embarrassed about it.

What's most noteworthy was that it was 15'C in Toronto today. Although I have nothing to back this up, there might be a correlation between my birthday and today's great weather.

To everyone who sent their wishes, I thank you. One of the best things I have experienced in my life, is meeting many wonderful people.

Now, the answers to yesterday's anagram challenge:

1. (hockey player) Zany tyke grew WAYNE GRETZKY

2. (musician) Gig jerk cam MICK JAGGER

3. (Canadian politician) Red hot cannibals BELINDA STRONACH

4. (wrestler) Frail cir RIC FLAIR

5. (actor) Lake thievery HARVEY KIETEL

6. (blogger) Sickener hero ERIC ROSENHEK ;-)

Good Day To Be Born

If today is your birthday, Happy Birthday!

I should also say congratulations.

I'm not sure what it is, but many well known cultural figures were born on this day. Usually on any given day, you get maybe 4-5 recognized names. However, the number triples. Celebrating today includes Jim Carrey, Kid Rock, Jacques Plante, Steve Earle, Shari Lewis, Andy Kaufman, Steve Harvey, Betty White and Vidal Sasson.

Two other people to note. First, Maury Povich was born on this day and apparently, he's celebrating by hosting "DNA Paternity Test Results - Part 86."

Second, Muhammad Ali is turning 65 today. According to TSN, in 2006, he earned $50 million. Not bad at all.

So Happy Birthday to everyone. I think I'll give the champ the last word.

"I done wrestled with an alligator, I done tussled with a whale; handcuffed lightning, thrown thunder in jail; Only last week, I murdered a rock, injured a stone, hospitalized a brick; I'm so mean I make medicine sick."
