Give Up?

"Eric, the chances of you becoming a successful radio broadcaster and earning a good living are zero. If I were you, I would quit CHEV and seek out a full-time job and career with the Town of M******."

- My Parents

Nice to know I have their full support.

I'd rather slit my wrists then work for the Town of M****** for the rest of my life.

This is the hell I've had to endure, ever since I threw my independence away and moved back home from Ottawa.

Dude...that's a real downer, for sure. You'd think your own parents (!) might try to make even a token effort to support your career goals & dreams... My sympathies!

Don't give up, though! However dim, there is still a light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. Patience is a virtue - you'll make it someday! Karma should reward your hard work and endurance sometime soon!

Besides, government work (municipal or otherwise) is DEFINITELY not recommended! A real soul-crusher... Would you give up your sanity in the name of "job security"? I think not - I wouldn't!

Holy Crap Eric!

Don't you ever give up or give into complacency. There are many paths to get to where you want to go and most of them are not direct. Despite appearances, CHEV and your Podcasting are not dead ends and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

We're here for you man. And any leads that I find, as always, I will throw your ways.

I know this is profoundly cliche at this point, but I do prescribe to the classic Chinese proverb that says that a man who does what he loves will never work a day in his life.

Don't ever take an easy route just because you can...because sometimes these are very difficult to extricate yourself from.

All the best,
Brian

Ouch. Like Blake and Brian said, don't listen to them. So long as you're earning enough money with part-time work to get by, keep another foot in the door and it WILL pay off.

I like your parents, but that's low.

Thank you for the kind words and support. I'm not giving up. I just needed to vent some major frustration.

Guy,

Taken on it's own it sounds a bit harsh. But dude, don't give up. Like your other buddies have stated, I'm sure all your work will pay off. And although I'm not in your field, I'll be sure to pass any leads I hear about over to you.

Dude, good stuff with the podcast and soon you'll be on AM radio.
