Spiderman '77

Apparently, during the late 1970's, there was a live action Spiderman series.

It looks as though the show didn't take off and was canceled. Perhaps it was the tacky costume. Maybe it was the fact that the actor playing JJJ did not look like JJJ.

Regardless, you gotta love that 70's rift.

THAT DOES IT!!!!

To describe myself as a long suffering Blue Jays fan is a gross understatement. I love the sport. I love the team. However, the product on the field right now is making me want to rip my hair out. Part of the blame goes to the players and coaches. But most of my finger pointing goes straight to the front office management.

THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING! They've made too many mistakes - Frank Thomas, AJ Burnett, letting Reed Johnson go, etc. And that's just this year! Let's not forget Corey Koskie, Tomo Ohka, making Josh Towers a starter, etc.

There needs to be accountability. There needs to be a change. Nothing against JP Richardi or Paul Godfrey, but their time has come.

To express my dissatisfaction with the Jays' front office, I have decided that effective immediately, I am withdrawing the term "Rogers Centre" from my vocabulary. This term represents how the Jays have been swallowed up by a giant conglomerate and lost their identity as a Major League Baseball franchise. From this point forward, I will call Toronto's stadium by its real name - Skydome.

Do you hear me, Ted?

Magnum!!!

Man, I wish I had a sick car and a wicked 'stache.

That's how men looked attractive during the 80's.

Stephen Colbert Licenses The Hockey Theme

A number of GM workers were laid off in Oshawa. Our Canadian soldiers are risking their lives in Afghanistan. Gas prices are still rising.

Yet, all we seem to care about is The Hockey Theme; a 60-second jingle that opened up hockey broadcasts.

Seriously, what's wrong with all of us?

I am happy Ms. Claman can finally have some closure. However, I still think CTV is full of crap. They don't care about Ms. Claman or the "legacy" of The Hockey Theme. All they care about is the millions they're going to make off the jingle.

You know what we all need? Stephen Colbert:

Final Thoughts: Stanley Cup Playoffs

I'd like to thank the Detroit Red Wings for making me look like a genius. A perfect prediction!

As I said throughout the playoffs, no one was going to beat the Red Wings. They were simply too strong, too experienced, too talented.

You have to give the Pittsburgh Penguins a lot of credit. They fought hard every game and didn't give up until the final buzzer. The Penguins are also talented and the majority of their players are very young. Keep a close eye on this team. Pittsburgh might not have won this year, but they will in the future. You're looking at a future powerhouse. The Penguins of today might be a reincarnation of the 1980's Edmonton Oilers.

It's actually ironic. When the Penguins won their two championships in the early 90's, the clinching victories were on the road - '91 in Minnesota and '92 in Chicago. Finally, Pittsburgh's Melon Arena (or whatever it's called now) hosts a Stanley Cup ceremony, and it's for the opposing team.

RECAP:

First round - five out of eight

Second round - one out of four

Third round - one out of two

Final round - one out of one

Total score - 8 out of 15; 53%

Ouch.

NBA Playoff Predictions - Final Round

In round three, I was right on one of the two match-ups. No perfect predictions.

Let's go to the next round:

NBA Championship

Los Angeles over Boston in 7

This is going to be one hell of a series. It's a classic match-up. The Celtics and Lakers have played each other for the league title many times before. During the 80's it was Bird vs. Magic. This year, it's KG vs. Kobe.

I'm quite torn with this series. Part of me wants to see Kevin Garnett finally win a championship. He deserves it! But everyone keeps ranting about how great the Celtics have been this year. Everyone keeps ranting about how Boston went worse to first. Seriously, even before the season started, people were picking the Celtics to represent the Eastern Conference and it bugged the hell out of me. Therefore, part of me wants to see the mighty Celtics knocked off their throne. If anyone can do it, it's Kobe and the Lakers.

Regardless, whoever wins will deserve it. I have no problem being wrong.

PS: Congratulations to the Detroit Red Wings - 2008 Stanley Cup Champions! I'll write my final thoughts tomorrow.
