Saving CKLN

Episode 46 of This Is Toronto is now available.

This latest edition features CKLN 88.1 FM.

Since 1983, this Ryerson-based station has been an alternative voice on the Toronto airwaves. But a recent CRTC decision nearly took it off the air.

Re. Nightstream

I miss Nightstream. It's still on CBC Radio 2, but it's changed.

I miss the Nightstream that had a DJ and played experimental and indie music. Now the experimental and indie stuff has been moved to the daytime and I'm left with a voiceless Nightstream, playing elevator/background music.

Now when it's late at night, I listen to Vinyl 95.3. It's alright. It plays some good cheesy pop songs; fits in with my guilty pleasures.

But it's no Nightstream.
