The Locks of Stamkos

I've cranked up that rambling zamboni again. The targets: The NHL All-Star game, the AHL All-Star game, Tim Thomas and Steven Stamkos.

After reading it, you might fall in love with the locks of Stamkos.

Final Thoughts - NHL Playoffs

The Bruins deserved to win. Vancouver simply fell apart when it mattered the most. Every single flaw on the Canucks' roster was exposed.

Tim Thomas was phenomenal. An incredible performance.

Totals: 9 out of 15 - 60%

Re. Game 4, Stanley Cup Final

The Canucks have become incredibly undisciplined.

Luongo or Schneider? I'm glad I'm not Alain Vigneault right now.

NHL Playoff Predictions - Stanley Cup Final

Round Three: Wrong, wrong and wrong.

Stanley Cup Final

Vancouver over Boston in six games

The Canucks must keep their foot on the gas at all times. Far too often, they take their foot off, allowing their opponents to take advantage. Any mistake will hurt Vancouver's chances. They must attack Tim Thomas.

Re. Carey Price and Tim Thomas

Two weeks ago, Tim Thomas and Carey Price were under the influence of sheer idiocy.

Their little fight made me angry and inspired this new article.

Fighting in hockey will horrifically turn tragic one day.

Brendan vs. Zach

Forget Taylor vs. Tyler. Let's take a look at Brendan vs. Zach.

It's the biggest debate in hockey (at least in my head).

NBA Playoff Predictions - Round Two

In the first round, I correctly predicted five out of the eight match-ups. Of the five, there were no perfect predictions.

Onto to the second round (better late than never):

Eastern Conference

Cleveland over Atlanta in five
Orlando over Boston in seven

Western Conference

LA Lakers over Houston in four
Denver over Dallas in six

NOTES: Not much to say, but watch out for the Magic. Orlando is very dangerous.

NHL Playoff Predictions - Round Two

In the first round, I correctly predicted six out of the eight match-ups. Of the six, one (Chicago/Calgary) was a perfect prediction. Damn you, Pittsburgh. Damn you, Anaheim.

Onto the second round:

Eastern Conference

Boston over Carolina in five
Washington over Pittsburgh in seven

Western Conference

Detroit over Anaheim in six
Chicago over Vancouver in six

NOTES: I should've known better when I picked the Penguins to lose. Pittsburgh is a young team that is going to make a huge impact. I was simply influenced by their slow start this season. However, Washington is on a great roll and that will certainly continue. Regardless, Washington vs. Pittsburgh is going to be a very entertaining series. It will be a battle of the superstars: Crosby vs. Ovechkin...Anaheim may have beaten the Sharks, but there's (hopefully) no way they will defeat the vetran Red Wings. History will not repete itself. I am, however, enjoying the play of Bobby Ryan...Still loving the Blackhawks. Vancouver has a few injured players. It will be interesting to see if those players had enough time to rest and recover.

Re. My S**ts List

The following people have been added to my S**ts list:

- the Boston Bruins
- B.J. Ryan
- the Montreal Canadiens (with the exception of Carey Price; it wasn't his fault)
- P.J. Stock

(All in good fun, of course)

Final Thoughts: MLB Playoffs

There's really nothing left to say.

The Red Sox had a great regular-season. They were consistent and led the AL East with a few minor bumps along the way. They were stronger then the Rockies. No question about it. I am especially happy for Canadian Eric Gagne, as well as former Blue Jays Eric Hinske, Bobby Keilty, Royce Clayton (Yes, even Royce), and Mike Timlin.

Out of the seven playoff match-ups, I was correct on four of them. Total: 57%

On to more important matters....

MLB Playoff Predictions - World Series

In the second round, I was right on one of the two match-ups. The one series I got right was not a perfect prediction.

On to the....

WORLD SERIES

Boston over Colorado in six games.

The Rockies have been on an amazing run. However, they have not played since last Monday. A long layoff like that kills momentum. Just look at what happened to the 2006 Tigers; and if you follow hockey, look at the 2004 Flames, the 2006 Oilers, and the 2007 Sens. All these teams advanced to the final after easily winning their semi-final matches. They had at least a week off before they played again. Meanwhile, their opponents took longer to get to the finals and had little rest. In the end, it was the opponents who came out on top.

The Red Sox last played on Sunday and are fresher then the Rockies. Boston will take advantage of this and by the time Colorado wins a game, it will be too late.

Waiting For Manny

For your weekend pleasure, here's a great article from The New Yorker about Manny Ramirez. Manny plays leftfield for the Boston Red Sox and is one of the best hitters I have ever seen.

Enjoy!
