It would appear that CBC television has fallen in love with the bio-pic. Off the success of the two Trudeau films, CBC is broadcasting two more bio-pics. On Monday, The Shania Twain story was shown and coming soon is a film about the life of Walter Gretzky. Personally, I have never been a big fan of the made for television bio-pic. There is this sort of cheap feel to it. Most of the ones I have seen have been based on airing out dirty laundry. I have also found that there is a certain higher cultural feel with film bio-pics such as the one about Johnny Cash that will soon be coming out. Perhaps there's a difference with televised Canadian bio-pics then with American ones.
